LED Light Treatment (Light Therapy)

Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic procedure whereby the dead surface of the skin is removed by light abrasion. Sun-damaged skin, dark spots and scars are taken away using this method. Also known as Mircroderm, this procedure is generally well accepted and very popular in beauty salons and spas.

This technique does not require anesthetic to numb the skin and is not a painful procedure. It can be used to remove scar which protrude above the skin but is it not as effective with sunken scars. Microderm can be a form of acne treatment but for successful results, repeated procedure has to be done frequently.

Abrasive crystals were actually utilized to carry out microdermabrasion previously but since the last decade, a wand with a coarse surface is now generally used to perform this technique. No medical supervision is necessary and this technique is performed in everyday spa treatments using all types of machines.

How Microdermabrasion Works

Microdermabrasion treatment has evolved and there are several different methods that exist today. One of them is the traditional method of crystal microdermabrasion where tiny crystals are discharged onto the skin to execute exfoliation. On the other hand, diamond microdermabrasion operates without any need of crystals. A diamond tipped head makes contact with the skin, exfoliates it by sucking away the dead skin cells.

The most popular method however, is the home microdermabrasion as they are easy procedures and cheap too. When done periodically, it can produce satisfactory results. Many skin care brands introduce their easy to use systems which can be done at home. Home microdermabrasion can be used to accelerate new healthy skin remodeling and promotes the development of new collagen.

Microdemarbrasion employs tiny elements known as ‘sand’ to polish the skin which will lessen scars and dark spots. You will notice visibly clearer and fresher skin as the surface is freed of dead skin and new skin cells will develop. Creams use in conjunction with this method will renew skin and quicken the development of healthy collagen skin cells.

Microdermabrasion can be used in combination with other treatments such as chemical peel or topical therapies to achieve better skin. Swelling and redness may last for a few hours and this is normal. However, what is less common is sometimes suction marks and bruising can appear after the treatment.
