Cellulite Treatment

Cellulite are in actual fact just fats which are trapped, making the skin looks uneven. The dimpling of the skin is irregular and inconsistent and is caused by pockets of fats. One can ascertain the existence of cellulite by orange peel and pinching around the upper thigh area to check any lumpy bits.

There are several areas which cellulite frequently forms, such as the abdominal area, thighs and buttocks. Cellulite should not be misinterpreted as obesity because cellulites do occur on slim women as well.

Formation of Cellulite

Cellulite is a dimple-looking skin that forms as a result of fatty tissues deep in the skin pushing up against one’s connective tissues. What is believed to cause the uneven surface related to cellulite involves fat cells that form a middle layer between the skin and muscle. Once these cells accumulate excessively, they push the skin up as the connective tissues pull it down.

We have three layers of fat beneath our epidermis and dermis and cellulite transforms to one of this layer of fat. Cellulite converts into a layer of subcutaneous fats and is unique in its formation. This is due to the fatty bits which are constructed into explicit chambers by strands which are made up of linked tissue surrounding it.

In the subcutaneous fat layers, the hormones and body’s metabolism assist in the storing of fats. Hormonal causes such as folliculine and estrogen are responsible for the formation of cellulite. This is why when a woman is experiencing hormonal changes, she is most likely to have cellulite. This includes the stages of pregnancy, puberty and menopause. The hormones in a woman help regulate blood flow, connective tissue, fats and lymphatic drainage.

The other two layers are situated underneath the subcutaneous fat layer and are not responsible for the formation of cellulite. One’s diet, lifestyle and amount of exercise contribute to the structuring of these layers. One can envisage a person’s fat storage and metabolism by seeing a person’s genetics.

Risk Factors in Accumulating Cellulite

  • Gender

It has been known that over 85 per cent of women aged 21 years and older have cellulite. Concerning this, it’s known to be uncommon in men. In woman’s subcutaneous fat layer, there are specific big chambers which permit fats to be accumulated. However in men, these chambers are in fact small and inclining units which can amass smaller amounts of fats which is why men rarely have cellulite.

  • Diet

Complex physiological changes that take place in this subcutaneous fat layer is the reason or cellulite. People have a misconception that by exercising and eating good diets, they can avoid having cellulite or get rid of them – this is not true.

Overall having cellulite does not pose a problem, but many people try their best to reduce its occurrence. However, an an unhealthy lifestyle will make cellulite look worse, e.g. due to insufficient nutrition, continuous weight gain and inadequate water consumption.

  • Age

Aging is also another factor that causes cellulite because the tone and firm tissue in the fat and skin layers slowly are spent when one ages. It rarely appears in childhood; thus, the changes on one’s skin appearance is associated to the fact that as one age, the skin produces less collagen and leads to sagging skin that worsens dimples, pinnacles, and valleys on the surface.

  • Skin Color

Mild forms of cellulite are generally visible only when the affected area is pinched or pressed, but more severe cellulite involves pinnacles and valleys on your skin’s surface. Concerning this, patients with lighter skin tones often experience worse cellulite that those with a darker complexion.

Cellulite Treatment and Home Remedies

  • Creams and Lotions

There are many products in the market, usually creams and lotions, that claim to combat cellulite by simply massaging or applying over the problematic area. The fact is cellulite cannot be tackled solely through the use of topical treatments. However, creams which have antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and herbs do help in making skin healthier and smoother. Creams that have antioxidants and anti-inflammatory ingredients have proven to be more effective as they can promote better blood flow.

This is because the cellulite areas are generally damaged and dry, and requires extra moisture and protection. By keeping the area well-moisturized, cellulite can be temporarily improved on. However, it is important to know that cellulite needs to be treated both internally and externally.

Concerning this, Topical treatments like 0.3 per cent retinol creams are found effective when applied twice a day for six months. Just by the application of topical creams, it would not treat cellulite completely as this condition needs to be treated from the inside as well.

  • Cosmetic Surgery

Several doctors view treatment for cellulite treatment as necessary only for cosmetic purposes. Some women opt for cosmetic surgery to diminish the unattractive appearance of cellulite. Mesotheraphy and endermologie procedures are well-known and effective methods. In fact, endermologie is the first cellulite treatment that is less invasive than other cellulite treatment. Those who go for liposuction will more often than not be disappointed in the results as they are not suitable methods in treating cellulite.
