Thermage is a non-surgical, skin tightening procedure to help one look younger. It uses radio waves and is also known by other names – ThermaCool, ThermaLift and Radiothermoplasty. Thermage procedures can effectively and safely treat skin on most body parts, including the face, eyes, lips, tummy, arms, hands, thighs and buttocks. Thermage can also temporarily reduce the appearance of cellulite.
There is no incision involved in the procedure. Thermage helps tighten facial skin, improves facial contours and smoothens out wrinkles. The procedure takes about an hour depending on the size of the area to be treated. What the device used top perform Thermage does is that it uses radiofrequency to build and contract collagen (structural protein found in the layers below the skin) by heating the collagen. This process stretches or tightens the skin and gives the skin a more youthful, healthy look. The patient may feel a slight discomfort and some dermatologists / surgeons prescribe oral pain medication and apply an anaesthetic cream before treatment to lessen any pain.
